Connectomics is the study of the connections in the nervous system. This is a novel way of studying the brain. Instead of looking only how different areas of our brains are structurally connected, we are now looking at how different areas in our brains are functionally connected. Parts of our brains are always communicating with each other. We are able to see when neurons are communicating or not communicating, in certain circumstances when someone has an injury within the nervous system.
